Let's ClearThe Air About A Few Things



I frequent quite a few message sites, some as a member others
as a lurker since I was banned when we opened up.

I continue to see things all around these sites that I find troubling.
Posters that are allowed to run amok, others that can at will trash
so called "friends" of said sites, and just people in general that
seem to want to follow the flow wherever that wind might be
heading.

We'll address these one at a time:

1. The posters run amok - These are usually the longer term members
who are allowed at will to verbally abuse and tear down anyone and
everyone that disagrees with their point of view. Very disruptive and
equally as destructive to the credibility of ANY site they post on.

2. Others that trash artists at will - These are the ones that don't seem
to understand or are totally incapable of grasping that all musicians
appeal to different tastes and just because they don't like a specific
artist doesn't mean that they are "shit" or a "fucking wannabe" This
type poster also fits into #1 when someone says they like a particular
artist they think sucks. Another very destructive member of any legitimate
online community.

3. The followers or "Lemmings" - These are the posters that just seem to
latch on to #1 and #2 types just to keep from getting attacked. So instead
of posting of their own free will and free opinion, they conform to the status
quo of the "board top dogs". In the grand scheme of running a website with
message boards, this one is also a detriment because to the outsider looking
in it appears that the boards are chocked full of single minded, single opinioned
groupies.

There is one other that I missed. That would be the poster with all the "insider"
information on a particular band or solo artist. This poster is probably the most
damning and dangerous as a site owner. If you allow yourself to believe
every tidbit of information without double and triple checking, you can easily
come out with egg on your face and your site again loses credibility.
The other major part of this poster is that usually they can grab a crumb of
inside information and then just fill in the blanks with bullshit and fan wishes.
Again, Not very helpful to legitimacy of a "rock" website.

I myself at one point fell into the #1 category of poster. I attacked at will
and I attacked with a huge amount of malice and predjudice towards almost
anyone and everyone that I felt was against my opinion. I have since learned
that that just alienates you from the rest of the membership in that they avoid
discussions and in general posting when they see you logged on. Makes for
a very lonely online forum experience when nobody wants to chance talking to
you.

I now watch and laugh at the posters that I see spouting off that they "know"
this and were directly "told" that but when questioned will NEVER divulge their
so called inside informant. The other sites are starting to crack down on the
attack poster, and the trash the artist posters which is a good thing, but they
need to be equally as wary of the "inside" guy poster. Five minutes at a meet
and greet does not constitute having inside information.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Ah yes, the "Susie"

How could I forget that one? That particular poster is most dangerous of all because he/she/it posts under many different personas and each one is uniquely different in style and substance. It's like an online version of schizophrenia. Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizophreniac and ..... so am I

I betcha I could put at least one name to each of those catgories that we would all know.

I would bet they would all be the same name.

Having only been involved with this type of the cyber world since Jan, I have seen all of the above posters and it has become more evident over the past few days. I saw a certain poster blast numerous friends from different forums and not knowing the circumstances I mostly kept quite.It now appears that others are wanting to jump on the bandwagon and continue to blast people I consider friends- In no uncertain words, I have no use for those people.

Makes them a lot easier to spot now that you know what you're looking for don't it.

If any of you know me, you only know me as heardonthestreet, atthistime or Rosie, (not the Rosie at Journey's board.)
There is someone here who is not welcome on any of the Perry boards and also a lot of the Journey boards because of malicious lies and backstabbing.
I loved the Mr. board and was there for years until the owner allowed the sick personal attacks and I told him that he lacked professionalism for allowing the the attacks to go unchecked.

I was not Cleo or Stella and am not, and never was the hated Susie.

Either believe me or boot me.

Because someone here had already told posters at Mr. that Hots was Susie. I'm willing to bet that the person that suggested by pm to some of you, that Rosie was susie, was the same person that told you here that my nic here, Atthistime, was Susie again.
I honestly just wanted to try being someone new at a new board and I contributed to that board and had fun.
I do not even know what happened and what susie was supposed to have done.

Just because some of my posting is outspoken and in-your-face, I am assumed to be others who post that way.

Should I say that I'm sorry for trying to fit in at that other board with the nic Rosie and fibbing about knowing the status of Schon and Journey? Ok, I will. It was dumb but not meant for any reason than other than to get away from the poster who insists on pm-ing on the boards that Hots is five or six other posters.
Hots and Att get themselves in enough trouble on their own without anyone trying to pin more on them.

All I can say is this stuff is the main reason I've retreated a great deal from the internet. Got enough crap going on in my life to deal with.

Actually, I had NO idea that you were HOTS when you joined up so definitively NO my post was NOT aimed at you. It was just something to spark discussion. You want to clear the air fine. At MR and most other sites I frequent, you know me by chf34jmac. I always thought that you had some strong points when you posted but you always seemed to post in an overly aggressive manner which is why you always seemed to be attacked at those other sites. I could absolutely care less who you are/were or what sites you came from. Glad you're here and post away. As long as the debates/discussions stay above the belt then it's all good. Welcome aboard!!!!!

it's not gonna get ugly GOD. that has never been my mo. the one thing that drives me crazy is that people hide behind user names when the heat is on. have never been anyone but mcc620 on all the boards until this year and even then i still let people know who i was. i don't care if HOTS/ATT/Rosie posts, just wish she had been honest on the saloon. i'm done with my rant now. carry on.

About your rants, that's what. I can see in no manner whatsoever that anyone was directing anything at you in this thread. I don't recall anyone at MR accusing you of being on of the Susie's, so your comments (that YOU brought up, not anyone else) don't make any sense to me. So it looks to me like you're clearing the air about something that is private in a public thread.

I never really had any beef with you, HOTS (that I can recall). I actually felt bad that you seemed to be the target of so much of Dean's ridicule. Was there something that happened prior to my joining that I don't know about? Maybe, maybe not.

Regardless, welcome to ORR. As long as you don't try to incite a feud here with anyone, I'm sure you'll be fine. Rock On!

p.s. Neal IS still in Journey, unfortunately...

HOTS, if you're thinking I told anyone Heardonthestreet or Atthistime were Susie you'd be wrong. I didn't and I've never heard that suggested by anybody else.

I did think Rosie at the Saloon was Susie at first, then I wasn't so sure. I never suspected that it was you though. Did I suspect at times that you might be Cleo(before I knew anything about Susie)? Yes, but when you assured me that you weren't I believed you. I never went on any campaign to convince anybody else that you were. The only person I talked to about it was you.

I've also never PM'd anybody gossiping about you in any way whatsoever. Some people on MR back when it became obvious that you and I were no longer friends asked me what happened and all I said was that we had a misunderstanding. I didn't say anything that I thought of as being derrogatory about you in any way though.

So if I'm the one you think has persecuted you in that way, then you haven't been persecuted.

Hey, nobody asked you to leave nor were you thrown out. By all means stay and enjoy. Rebuild, refresh, and renew old friendships. I for one am glad to have you here. As I said earlier, I always thought you made some very good arguments. My problem was only ever in the delivery. Stick around and keep on firing away. The abuse here all stays above the belt.
